Online Courses for Dancers- Educators, Choreographers, Parents, and Students


Online Courses: All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, at no additional cost. Each course is 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours in length and provided via a secure Telehealth platform. Arrangements also can be made for specific group, studio, or individual classes- please inquire at any time.

Minimizing Cross- Contamination: This course focuses on scientific background for practical preventative measures in managing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, including specifics of the use of gloves, fit and handling of face masks, medical professional- level hand washing procedures, care of the hands, with specifics in avoiding cross- contamination in daily activities, in caring for people with vulnerable immunity, and in the workplace, school, dance, and sports.

For Educators and Students- Returning to the Studio and Preparing for Summer and Fall Courses: This course offers strategies for pacing activity, preparatory exercises, and conditioning exercises to reduce injury. This course focuses on injury prevention with respect to changes in dance flooring, increased space and movement in the studio, and care of the body while pacing technique in class. Specialized recommendations and health and safety considerations are offered for educators navigating return to in- studio teaching, travel, and guest teaching.

Injury Prevention and Management for Dancers: This course focuses on principles of injury prevention, including aspects of a proper warmup, technique, and care of the body to minimize strain during class and rehearsals. Special focus will be on considerations for online dance classes and rehearsals. The course will also cover signs and symptoms of an injury, care at home, and when to see a medical provider.

Anatomy of the Foot and Ankle for Dancers: This course focuses on anatomy and biomechanics of the foot and ankle, with an emphasis on kinesiology of the foot and ankle in classical ballet technique.

For Dancers- Anatomy and Mechanics for Proper Turnout and Arabesque: This course discusses the anatomy and proper mechanics for turnout and for arabesque to achieve clarity and elegance of technique and reduce injuries to the spine, hips, knees, and feet.

For Dancers- Safety Considerations for Online Class: This course discusses safety procedures, working with the home environment, adaptation to flooring, preparation exercises, pacing and technique considerations to minimize risk of strain and injury while taking classes online.
